Diabolik Comeback

Posted by Grey

Diabolik, the infamous Italian comic strip anti-hero is sneaking his way to PSP.

Created by Italian sisters Angela and Luciana Giussani in 1962, Diabolik first appear in black and white comic digest and pulp fiction booklets. A ruthless thief and a master of disguise, well-versed in, well almost everything from every school of science to technology, the character was first portrayed as a remorseless straight villain who has no issues killing anyone to achieve his next goal. However, as his popularity escalates, the plot conveniently shifts to the more heroic "Robin Hood" aspect of his profession, stealing from the typically filthy rich criminals, in an attempt to move the gradually iconic pulp figure away from the darker outlook that were first cast.

Iconic status, you wondered? Yes indeed, the master thief clad in absolute black leaving only his eyes and trademark eyebrow exposed has inspired more popular culture archetype than you know. Fantomex, AKA Weapon XIII from Grant Morrison's New X-Men being a blatant homage; and Beastie Boys' Body Movin music video being a direct parody of Danger: Dibolik, the movie adapted from the comic strip. And the really lasting effects on popular culture? The "criminalizing of K in names”, be it characters or items, has been a stuff of satire and much more. Kriminal, Killing and Donald Duck'secret alter ego, Paperinik, anyone?

Diabolik: The Original Sin is a third-person action adventure blending the modern combination of hasty combat and stealth action with traditional point-and-click element in fast-paced gameplay sequences bridging between 3D real-time graphic and black and white pulp comic style.

The game will be available in mid August. Do check out the rather stale trailer for now.

UFC VS EA

Posted by Grey

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White raised the question, complete with an answer attached for the doubter's convenience.

"What happens if a fighter agrees to an appearance in EA's MMA title?

Simple.

You won't be in the UFC."

First reported by MMA Junkie,White, ever the aggressor that just won't shy away from making derogatory remarks, further his statement,

"I'm not tap-dancing around this thing or whatever, I'm telling you straight-up, I'm at war with them right now."

Why this hostility, you ask? Accordingly, White had crossed path with EA (Electronic Arts) earlier while researching on stepping into the gaming platforms with his UFC franchise but was met with the usual jest that accompanied professional fighting-related promotion (do note my efforts in not writting "Sports Entertainment") from EA, which should not come as a surprise given John McCain's past comments of UFC being "human cock fighting". Upon the tremendous sales and mostly favourable reviews for this year's THQ/Yuke and of course, UFC's offering, UFC 2009 Undisputed, it seems that EA had decided to jump on the wagon to cash the cow, an action that pissed the [expletive] out of White.

God Eater

From the various online sources, this Namco Bandai's take on the Monster Hunter genre with a deliciously blasphemous title (having been used before for a comic book villain that does exactly what the namesake applies for Thor and his fellow Asgardians), trades the niche Fantasy setting for a decidedly more FFVII-esque Sci-fi outlook.

A welcome entry to the gradually promising batches of forthcoming PSP lineups. Do check out the official site for some effective RPG score and a feel of the game's futuristic setting.

Dig Transformer?
Dig Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the movie?
Dig video games that are effectually movie adaptation?
Dig Megan Fox?

If your answers to all the above questions are yes, check out the below video embeded from Gamespot.

If the answers to all the above questions except the last are no, then check it out all the same, despite the patronising nature of the video.

In the very rare case (based on the fact that you have found your way here) that all the answers are no, it's either you are a chick or you're a faggot, but then again, nobody cared who you are by the way.

Tekken 6's Alternate Outfits By Famed Mangaka Revealed

Posted by Grey

It was long announced that following Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection's crowd-pleasing alternate outfits for almost every characters, Tekken 6, hitting the third-gen home consoles and PSP, promised to be bigger and better by inviting more high profile Managka into the fray.

And the first reveal (conveniently sourced from Japan's Gamespot site) is quite a kicker, featuring Clamp, the famed all-female Mangaka group, taking on the main protagonist/antagonist, Jin Kazama.

Comfortably glam by the standards of Clamp, the indisputable larger-than-life brought shades of Lars Alexandersson's in-game alternate superhero-esque outfit to mind but surpassed it by having that uniquely cold, blue-blooded Mishima's villainous aura to it. Aptly so since Jin is officially turning heel this time round.

Speaking of Lars Alexandersson, word is another high profile Managaka, Masashi Kishimoto of Naruto had a run on the alternate costume for him. Courtesy of sdtekken.com, we have a scan of it.
