Dante's Inferno Burning Through Hell To PSP

Posted by Grey

Feeling all kinds of melancholy for not seeing Capcom's otherwise relatively Sony-friendly Devil May Cry's Dante on PSP?

Well, go to hell.

So says Electronic Arts, and Visceral Games, in collaboration with Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M) for the PSP port.

Based on the first part of Dante's Divine Comedy (sequels, franchise, anybody?), the third-person gameplay thrusts player into the role of Dante, a veteran crusader of whom, after his crusades, finds home only to witness the murder of his beloved, Beatrice Portinarito, of whom upon being murdered, was dragged down to hell. Defiance from our protagonist are expected, which of course, triggered the player's entrance. Probably the best game ever for a backslider to gain his good ol'religious morality, if any, back, and have fun burning away in hell.

One thing we can safely assumed would be the fact that Capcom's beloved franchise's mainstay, Dante's namesake, has to be inspired by Durante degli Alighieri (more commonly known as Dante) and his magnus opum poem, Divina Commedia (better known to ninety percent of the world's population as, Divine Comedy).

While most writes this off as a generic God Of War clone, it would be wise to keep that two-timing gaming fingers of yours crossed.

Our team and the team at A2M are taking the vision for Dante's Inferno and translating it directly to the PSP. PSP owners can expect to get the same level of fast, responsive gameplay through all nine detailed and unique circles of hell we are aiming to achieve on the consoles."

And so says, Executive Producer Jonathan Knight of Artificial Mind and Movement.

The official opening movie according to the developer.

LittleBigPlanet Crashing Into PSP Galaxy

Posted by Grey

LittleBigPlanet, better known as the unsuspectingly surprise saviour for Sony's insufferable PS3, is stretching that messianic muscle to the equally much-maligned PSP.

Salvation is upon us.

Sony sure wasted no time after the big announcement that was the PSP Go to make the other big announcement back in the E3 earlier this year that is:

LittleBigPlanet is coming to PSP.

The multi-gaming award-winning PS3-exclusive behemoth is coming to PSP. Developed by Media Molecule and much-touted as the unexpected messiah to the PS3, LittleBigPlanet had went on to receive overwhelmingly universal praise from gamers and critics alike, for its unique graphics, gameplay physics and presentation. The crown jewel of them all, would be the unlimited potential for the player generated contents available online for all.

The common question now would be, how bad does it suffer from the port from PS3 to PSP? On an extraordinarily peculiar note, it does not. From all sources and previews, it seems that Media Molecule, working with SCE Studio Cambridge on the port, has made it a point to ensure the original PS3 experience maintained for here as well. Level creation and sharing will indeed work, one way or the other in PSP as well. That said, the load time does get agonizingly long though understandably so.

Nevertheless for the PSP enthusiast, this is one title that you can, by all means, put down in your must-have-list.

Marvel Super Hero Squad: Kid Size Superhero Entertainment

Posted by Grey

And so it seems that before the main event between the Comic Industry's Big Two kicks off, we will have some small dose of superhero gameplay to make do with. And a kid-size small dose it sure is.

Marvel Super Hero Squad, is an upcoming multi-console (Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable) kid-friendly brawler developed by Blue Tongue and published by THQ. Currently scheduled to be launched in the last quarter of 2009, the game comes piggybacked with additional promotions other than its blatant sources. The namesake, Marvel Super Hero Squad, is a popular Action Figure line marketed by Hasbro since 2006, featuring cartoonized style of established Marvel Superheroes and Villains that was originally targeted at kids under three but went on to become a big hit with the kids and adults. Expectedly, the success of the surprise hit franchise inadvertantly guaranteed further expansion of its lifespan outside the toyline. While the obligatory comic series are already in print, the animated series will be launching in Cartoon Network later this year, a well-timed decision for the franchise.

The premise for this alternate Marvel franchise is that, all the superheroes lives in Superhero City (where your friendly neighbourhood Daily Bugle and the not so friendly Rainbow Bridge to Asgard conveniently co-exist from the cityscape), while the villains resided in (hell, did I mentioned this is for kids?), VillainVille. As always, Doctor Doom gets into his "Pinky & The Brain" routine just so that every other heroes and villains can get into theirs. So much for the premise.

From the reports, the gameplay mainly comes in two mode. Adventures Mode, are for the most part, the Story Mode where players can select two characters from the relatively under-developed roster (reportedly, the game featured a roster of 20 playable Marvel characters, comprising the fan-favourites, Iron Man, Silver Surfer (hell, I had mever imagined that there will come one day where I can called ol' Shellhead and Norrin Radd a fan-favourite!) and Wolverine, and the more obscure characters like Spider-Man 2099 and the Captain America cheap knockoff that is not the Bucky Cap, U.S.Agent) and go through the usual fight-cutscene-fight-cutscene-fight routine. Both single (you will get to switch your character on the fly, much like the Lego series) and cooperative gameplay if you really hated the idea of an A.I. partner, are available. Battle Mode, on the other hand, plays like a party game more suited for casual gameplay. As of now, Blue Tongue is putting additional efforts in ensuring the Nintendo Wii experience work out fine, though further news pertaining the other consoles should be out later on.

Considered this a light-hearted appetizer before the all-out slugfest between Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance 2 (due out this September) and its nemesis's DC Universe Online (scheduled to be hitting shelves only early next year).
