Feeling all kinds of melancholy for not seeing Capcom's otherwise relatively Sony-friendly Devil May Cry's Dante on PSP?
Well, go to hell.
So says Electronic Arts, and Visceral Games, in collaboration with Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M) for the PSP port.
Based on the first part of Dante's Divine Comedy (sequels, franchise, anybody?), the third-person gameplay thrusts player into the role of Dante, a veteran crusader of whom, after his crusades, finds home only to witness the murder of his beloved, Beatrice Portinarito, of whom upon being murdered, was dragged down to hell. Defiance from our protagonist are expected, which of course, triggered the player's entrance. Probably the best game ever for a backslider to gain his good ol'religious morality, if any, back, and have fun burning away in hell.
One thing we can safely assumed would be the fact that Capcom's beloved franchise's mainstay, Dante's namesake, has to be inspired by Durante degli Alighieri (more commonly known as Dante) and his magnus opum poem, Divina Commedia (better known to ninety percent of the world's population as, Divine Comedy).
While most writes this off as a generic God Of War clone, it would be wise to keep that two-timing gaming fingers of yours crossed. Our team and the team at A2M are taking the vision for Dante's Inferno and translating it directly to the PSP. PSP owners can expect to get the same level of fast, responsive gameplay through all nine detailed and unique circles of hell we are aiming to achieve on the consoles."
And so says, Executive Producer Jonathan Knight of Artificial Mind and Movement.
The official opening movie according to the developer.
